Social phobia or anxiety is something that most people can associate with to a lesser or greater extent. It is often described as that feeling of dread or a nervous feeling in situations where you feel on the spot or judged in some way.

There are lots of different situations that sufferers identify as difficult; from talking in public to making phone calls, meeting new people to simply going shopping.

These experiences can leave the person feeling like a fish out of water, wishing they were in more familiar surroundings or sink into the background.

It would be wrong to attribute this to feeling embarrassed or shy (although those are symptoms that many will experience) it is an irrational fear that can become very frustrating and upsetting.

Many people suffering with Social Anxiety also identify with physical symptoms like excessive sweating, blushing or shaking. Some suffers also find that they stutter or stammer in those situations they find most difficult.

It is also common to develop shy bladder or a fear of public toilets (paruresis).

While many suffers are able to conceal some of the anxiety it can and does effect other aspects of their lives.

Sufferers are often very insecure about their relationships, and are very self critical, sometimes giving the false impression to others that they are quick to take offence.

Hypnotherapy can help...

There really is no need to suffer in silence; putting it all down to life. Hypnotherapy can help.

Using Analytical Therapy we can gently deal with the bottled up emotions that are causing your symptoms. By working together we can use the minds own ability to link one experience to another and release the 'emotional rubbish' that has been making you feel anxious.

Social anxiety responds well to Hypnoanalysis with clients reporting a relief of their symptoms early in the therapy.
