Hypnotherapy is most easily described as a treatment designed to change our behaviour and remove emotional problems using the power of hypnosis. While there are lots of different types of Hypnotherapy most people assume that it involves hypnotising someone and suggesting to them that their unwanted behaviour has changed or a particular problem has disappeared.

The two types of Hypnotherapy that I use at the Headlands Surgery in Kettering are Suggestion Therapy and Analytical therapy. These two types of therapy generally mark both ends of the scale. Both therapies use hypnosis as an aid to suggestion and recall, helping you to overcome fears/phobias/anxiety and many other symptoms.

Most people are aware that hypnotherapy can help with stopping smoking or with phobias, however, some are surprised to find that it can also help with depression, social anxiety, confidence and sexual problems such as low libido, impotence and premature ejaculation and much more.

Hypnotherapy has also been used successfully to help with pre-test nerves and exam stress as well as helping couples who are expecting a baby to use hypnosis to have a more comfortable birth (Hypno-birthing).

What can you expect from a Hypnotherapy session?

For both types of treatment (suggestion or analytical) we will begin with a chat. It is important that you feel comfortable and understand what the treatment entails, and it’s also important for me to understand a little about you so that we can work together and ensure you get the most from the therapy.

Next I will explain the type of therapy we are going to use and why that particular one is suited best to you and your symptoms. I will also be able to explain what will be expected from you; for example am I going to do all the talking (suggestion therapy) or will you have more of active role (analytical therapy).

Once we have answered any questions you might have then it’s on with the therapy. It really is as simple as that!
